I have lived in London for three years and I speak from experience. Comparing London to San Francisco Bay area is like comparing Silicon Valley to Cheyenne (Wyoming). Prices of houses in London start at US$80 million and slowly slides down to US$1 million (in the suburbs). The travel time might take you around a hour and a half under normal traffic conditions to get from a 80 million dollar house in downtown London to the one million dollar house in the suburbs. You get the picture of how big and expensive London is.

Okay, I am guilty of that act of judging the language part haha. I just got back from a trip to Jammu and Katra, our local driver once asked someone on the road for directions in the local language, then I asked him which language is that, and he said 'Dogri'. At first I thought they were speaking Punjabi. But seriously, regarding the terrorism stereotype, I dont think y'all understand why non J&K Indians have that stereotype. I've seen a lot of Jammuites (and I mean from Jammu region, not just Jammu city) online reassuring that Jammu is very safe and peaceful compared to Kashmir. But we do feel wary on learning about incidents such as the Raghunath temple attacks in 2002, HRTC bus attack in Kathua in 2002, attack on BSF convoy in Udhampur in 2015, grenade attack on Vaishno Devi pilgrims in Banganga in 2003, etc. And unfortunately the media clubs these incidents along as part of the insurgency in Kashmir, so they don't get much coverage (as if to say terror is part and parcel of life in J&K). And all those incidents are just the major ones which were newsworthy, so we don't know how frequent any attacks are. Hence that stereotype is not really our fault.
